The Yarra Ranges Open Learning Network

Aim

Click here for the Project Officers' Report

The network aims to create a virtual 'cyber community' for students and teachers to exhibit and extend their skills, train in new learning technologies and foster friendships as they network with their peers.

In such a community, students and teachers will have access to a vast range of local resources such as on line web sites established by business and community interests in the Yarra Ranges area.

If these sites are unavailable, students will be in the unique position of creating these resources, thus rendering an invaluable form of civic service. The interactivity of the Internet through email and video conferencing will facilitate the development of this "cyber-community" as it allows students and teachers to collaboratively work together more efficiently and effectively.

Project Focus

Using the Internet tools such as web publishing, video conferencing and multimedia application programs, primary and secondary students will collect and document the unique social, historical and environmental features of the Yarra Ranges. At the same time students will share skills and learn from each other within a collaborative environment.
