Principals Association of Specialist Schools of Victoria (P.A.S.S. - Vic)
This association provides a professional development and collegiate support forum for Principals of specialist schools for students with disabilities and impairments. Members meet twice in each school term and invites guest speakers to address members. We welcome interested observers.
There are more than 80 Victorian Department of Education, Employment & Training (DEET) specialist schools of various types catering for students who have intellectual disability, autism, physical disability, auditory or visual impairments, social and emotional disturbance or who attend hospital schools. Students have an assessment which indicates the type of specialist school they should attend. If parents elect not to access that school, they may chose another for which eligibility is established.
The Victorian Government provides transport for students who attend specialist schools within a designated area of transport entitlement. Buses staffed by a driver and supervisor are the usual mode of transport, with some students using taxis in some situations. Parents of students who live "out-of-area" take all responsibility for transport.
For information about individual schools please see regional pages.
